Adjustments of LIFE April 10, 2009

It was very hard after being in Atlanta for a year because my total focus was on me getting well from this thing called cancer.  We lived in Atlanta but I had not really adjusted yet.  September 2006, I had completed all my radiation treatments and knew I needed to begin searching for a job.  It felt like I was just starting out in Atlanta.  Wow, I was so overwhelmed.  The kids loved school and our neighborhood — there are a lot of kids in our neighborhood.  It was not easy for them to adjust to church.  You have to realize we came from a smaller church of around 200 people and everybody knew who they were, to a place that no one knows them and something is wrong with Mom.  It was hard to reassure my kids that I was going to be okay when they saw me at my weakest point of life — trying to teach them during this to pray.  I was dragging them to church when they did not want to go.  Wow, that was hard.  They have made friends and love to go to church now.  It just took time for all of us to adjust.

We added to the 2 lizards and parakeet our precious little dog, Nemo.  He is a long-haired Chihuahua.  He is my dog and is spoiled rotten.  The other pets were to help the kids adjust, I guess Nemo was to help me adjust.  I’m not sure if our home needs to be renamed the Walters’ Zoo—it may be more appropriate.

13 A cheerful heart brings a smile to your face; a sad heart makes it hard to get through the day.

Adjustments of LIFE.
