Kirk and I spoke at Mount Paran North (the church Kirk is on staff at) at their annual “Couple to Couple”- it is a marriage seminar and around 60 couples attend. This was my third time to speak with Kirk at Mount Paran North. Speaking to adults is not one of my strong gifts so I get really nervous. I told them up front that I do not consider myself a great speaker like Kirk so if they had any expectations they shouldn’t and that what I messed up, Kirk would clean up for me. Teaching children is much easier for me but everyone has their gifts.
Usually I need weeks, months, okay a year if I can to study and think through what I will say but as you see my summer schedule did not allow this. I got some thoughts together Tuesday, July 7th but Kirk and I did not get together to study until Saturday, July 11th. Yes, that is the day before Sunday, July 12th that we spoke.
I really enjoy helping with marriage seminars although it is not my top gift to speak because I know satan wants to destroy marriages and families. My prayer was to share something that they could relate to and know that they are not the only ones that feel the way they do. We all need attention, affirmation, affection, adventure, accordance.
1 CORINTHIANS 13:4-8 & verse 13
4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8Love never fails.
