The next day at work I took some boxes out to the dumpster and Angel walked with me. Since she was in her early twenty’s she called me ‘Miss Laura’. She said, “Miss Laura, I don’t have a friend—it’s me, I am the one considering the abortion.” I said, “Why”? She said, “My marriage is not doing well, I have three children right now. My marriage certainly will not make it through next year and I am not sure if it will make it through the end of this year. We are barely making ends meet and can barely afford to pay for three kids— much less four. Based on my last two pregnancies and two miscarriages I am going to have to miss work for at least two months on bed rest before and after at least. I can’t afford to give up four to six weeks of income. I don’t have a choice.” And she posed the messy question. “Is it ok if I call you during this process?” I said, “You can call me, anytime, day or night, you know God loves you and you know that God loves that baby. And I am going to love you no matter what.”
6But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. Matthew 6:6
