I became sick the next day and was out of work the entire week. The following week on a Friday, Angel came to my mind so I called Angel on the phone. I said, “How are you doing.” She said, “Miss Laura I’m so glad you called — tomorrow morning is my appointment for the abortion. Is it ok if I call you tomorrow? I will probably be a mess.” Everything within me wanted to cry out — “You are going to go ahead and do this and then you want me to pick you up.” Yet, something deep within me said, “Sure, you call me. Call me anytime you need me.”
