Friday, August 7, 2009 was the Friday before school started. We got ready to meet Lauren’s teacher at 10:30 a.m. Lauren had her mind set on a certain teacher but did not get that teacher. Her teacher for 4th Grade is Mrs. Lewis. She seemed very nice and organized. We went to meet Bradley’s teacher at 1:30 pm. Tony, Brad’s friend went with us. It was a lot of people there and kind of crazy. Bradley’s homeroom teacher’s name is Mrs. Shearer. She seems like she will keep the kids in line and would help them be responsible for their things and that is exactly what Brad needs. We stayed for a little while to let Tony & Brad hang out at the school.
We came home and got ready to go to the church by 6:00 pm. Brad had a Promotion Reception for those going to Middle School. We had pictures, trophies, a football helmet, medals and a power point slide show that Brad had achieved to decorate a table. It was a very nice night to close that page and begin another page in his life. Cindy Hunnicutt did an awesome job in organizing this event and prayed a very sweet blessing over the kids. They presented the children with a Bible and the verse that Cindy gave them was the verse below, Romans 12:2. Brad & I also met the new Middle School pastor at Mount Paran North, Brian Downs and his wife Emily and 6 month old daughter Kylee. Around 9:00 p.m. we got home and I went straight to bed. This was a long day only 7 days after my surgery.
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
