I thank God for a wonderful husband who walked right beside me through a dark time in our life. He took me to doctor appointments and took care of our kids when I was not able—all the meals he cooked, clothes he washed, and keeping the house from becoming a hazard zone. I know it was hard for him to continue with his full-time job and still take care of me and the kids. He stood strong through all the emotions that he was dealing with. Kirk is definitely a man of God who I love with all my heart. He did not want me to begin a job until after my treatments were over. He wanted me to concentrate on me and get through it without any additional stress.
I also thank God for two loving children that prayed and believed with me that God would heal me. Though they did not understand everything that was going on— Kirk and I would reassure them that God was taking care of me. It was a rough time at first—Bradley, my tenderhearted child, did not understand everything so he became angry. We just moved him away from friends, church, school, grandparents and now something was wrong with mom. I saw a side of him that I had never experienced. He had a lot of questions and we answered them as best we could. He did get better and worked through all of it. He was my little man. Lauren has always been our strong willed child. I love her personality—it is all about how many friends she can make wherever she goes. During all of this she was a big girl.
26-30 “You’ll take delight in God, the Mighty One,
and look to him joyfully, boldly.
You’ll pray to him and he’ll listen;
he’ll help you do what you’ve promised.
You’ll decide what you want and it will happen;
your life will be bathed in light.
To those who feel low you’ll say, ‘Chin up! Be brave!’
and God will save them.
Yes, even the guilty will escape,
escape through God’s grace in your life.”
