I left off when Brad was playing flag football on my last blog before summer began, well to continue that story Brad dropped out of flag football when he signed up for tackle football because his schedules were overlapping. April 27, 2009 began practice for tackle football and it was Monday – Friday, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. This was just a few weeks before school was out. He played a few scrimmage games and ended when school was out. Practice began a couple of weeks before school started for fall football from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and his first scrimmage game is August 15th.
We began to see a big change in Brad….sad to say, not a good change toward the end of the school year (5th Grade). I know people say that is what all kids go through but that does not make the situation any better when you are facing it. He began to get an attitude toward me that made me not want to be around him. He was being influenced by older kids. He would lie and though I knew he was lying I could not prove him wrong. Brad is 11 years old and thought he was always right and everybody was against him. I know my kids are not perfect but all the stories I heard about other kids were finally hitting home.
Psalm 34:11 (New International Version)
11 Come, my children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
