Kirk Becomes Dr. Kirk Walters August 19, 2009

Filed under: Kirk becomes Dr. Kirk Walters — laurawalters20 @ 6:58 am

Wednesday, May 27, 2009 Kirk became Dr. Kirk Walters!  This was a day that we had been looking forward to for a very long time.  Brad and Lauren encouraged him and ask “how’s it going with school” often.  They thought it was cool that their Dad had school work like them.  There was no doubt in my mind that he could do it.  I am very proud of him but so glad we have more time together.   He would wake up many days at 5:00 a.m. to work on his dissertation before work so that he would not take away from family time in the evenings.  Weekends were time for him to catch up on school work.

We celebrated Kirk’s huge accomplishment by:

#1 Surprise – The doorbell rang around 11:00 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 2009 and Kirk went to the door thinking who in the world could be visiting at this time of night.  He opened the door and was so surprised to see his parents standing at the door.  He just stood there and didn’t say anything at first.  Then he said what are ya’ll doing here and they congratulated Dr. Kirk Walters.

#2 SurpriseFriday, May 29, 2009 the next morning, I planned for us to go to Cracker Barrel for breakfast.  When we got there my parents, Larry (my brother) & Gina (Kirk’s sister) that are married met us there and surprised Kirk.  My parents drove to Cleveland, TN from Waynesboro, MS to stay with Larry and Gina Thursday night and drove over that morning.  This began the day full of surprises.

#3 Surprise – That same day Friday, May 29th we had Red Velvet Cake (Kirk’s favorite), Lauren & Brad made a poster and had everyone to sign it – even our dog Nemo.  They also wrote Kirk a note to let him know how proud they were of their dad.

#4 Surprise – We told Kirk that we were leaving around 6:00 p.m. for dinner and to dress nice.  Brad told him earlier it was a place where he couldn’t wear blue jeans but couldn’t remember the name of it.  Everyone got dressed and Kirk was standing in the living room and saw the limo drive up which was surprise #4.  I thought it would be nice for all of us to ride together to dinner.  Brad and Lauren entertained us the entire time.  Who could ask for anything more….a limo ride with entertainment.

#5 Surprise – We arrived at the Sun Dial Restaurant in downtown Atlanta, GA.  This restaurant rotates as you eat and you can see the view of Atlanta.  It is absolutely beautiful.  We had a wonderful day with our family.  After we ate the limo took us back home.

CONGRATULATIONS DR. KIRK WALTERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I LOVE YOU!
