MAMMOGRAM DAY – MARCH 14th 2006
I never had a mammogram before but had heard all the wonderful, horrifying stories. Needless to say, I was not excited about this visit. I was called back to this little room with this huge machine — no wonder people have the stories, this thing is huge. The lady told me to go into a changing room connected to the room we were in to put on a peek-a-boo gown. She said, “The gown opens in the front.” So I sat on this little bench wondering if they were going to ever come back for me. When she came back we took what seemed to be a thousand pictures. It was not as bad as I was expecting, but not something I would want to do every day. She left the room to make sure they were good pictures.
When she came back, she informed me we needed to take 3 more. I asked, “Why?” She explained that there was one area that she needed to target, but not to worry. So we take a few more pictures. It is after 5:00 pm at this point. They began to try to find a doctor in the office complex that could see me immediately. This did not sound good and the waiting seemed like an eternity.
4 My heart is in anguish within me; the terrors of death assail me. 5Fear and trembling have beset me; horror has overwhelmed me. 6 I said, “Oh, that I had the wings of a dove! I would fly away and be at rest- Psalm 55:4-6
