The things we let our kids do in LIFE March 18, 2009

We moved to Atlanta, GA in February 2006. We lived in a hotel for 2 weeks until our house was ready and moved in March 1, 2006. Unlike the hotel, we finally were in a place with more than one room and one bathroom. For several days during our temporary stay, it rained ALL day and I was stuck in a hotel room with 2 kids because I didn’t know my way around Atlanta. It got so bad I told the kids “Don’t you ever do this at our house, but go over there and jump on those beds to get some of that energy out.” They had to do something or they were going to drive me up the wall.

The kids were having a hard time adjusting so we got Bradley 2 leopard geckos (lizards) and Lauren a parakeet, named Cloudy. Cloudy died within a few months and the kids planned a funeral for the bird. We put him in a box and Lauren and Bradley invited the neighborhood kids to the funeral. They asked Kirk to preach the funeral. They set the day and time and even had a viewing. Kirk said a few words and Bradley started humming the “Wedding March”. (yep, wrong song) Lauren asked if anybody wanted to say anything and Kirk dug a hole and buried the bird. Lauren was really upset but after we finished she said, “Can we go to Steak-N-Shake?” After eating, we went to get another parakeet, named Lucky. Lucky is still with us today. I guess we thought buying them something would help them adjust.

Even a child is known by his actions, by whether his conduct is pure and right.
