Everyone looks forward to Vacation time. It is always a time to get away from everything and relax with your family. Everyone needs a break. We went June 5th – 13th to Hilton Head, SC to the beach. We love going to the beach! This vacation came just at the right time. When we planned our vacation we did not know that Kirk would have completed his dissertation but he did and could relax knowing that he was finished. Our trips to the beach are so much fun and we have so many memories. This year we arrived late Friday afternoon because we picked the kids up from Camp Rocks and left from there to Hilton Head. Our first stop on our way out was to the “Dwarf House” – the original Chick-fil-A. The kids love to go there.
It was so nice to get up Saturday morning and do my devotion to the sound of waves. We spent most of the day on the beach and that evening went to see the movie “UP”. Sunday, we got up and as each morning I love to do my devotion to the sound of waves. It is so relaxing. After another day at the beach, we went to eat at “Hilton Head Diner” and then to play Putt-Putt. Monday, we got up a little later had devotion time and Kirk and I watched a few episodes of “24”. On this vacation we watched season 1 of “24”. The kids wanted to go to the indoor pool and that evening we went bowling and ate pizza at the bowling alley. Tuesday, I made breakfast, went to the beach but not for very long because the life guard made everyone get out of the water because they saw a shark and lots of dolphins. Lauren didn’t want to get back in the water so we went to the outdoor pool. That evening we ate at “It’s Greek To Me” then back to the condo for our family game night. We played “Apples to Apples” and “Charades”. I always love this time together because we love to laugh and Brad and Lauren like to make you laugh. Wednesday, we got up and ate a late breakfast and took the kids to the indoor pool. That afternoon we went shopping and ate at Applebee’s and went to the movies to see “Night at the Museum”. Thursday, we ordered Pizza for the kids and “Kenny B’s French Quarter Cafe” for me and Kirk. We watched “Beverly Hills Chihuahua” in the condo. Friday, was another game night in the condo as we packed and got things ready to leave Saturday morning.
I love vacation at the beach because we do not schedule anything. We got up when we wanted and just did things at our leisure. I love spending devotion time at the beach and this was one time I really wanted to hear from God. I was at a point where I was ready to move on with the next step, but maybe I am just supposed to continue to “Be Still”. I know in His time He will show me where, when and what my next step in LIFE is. My prayer on our vacation was for the Holy Spirit to be with me and guide my steps. I know He has something for me and though I don’t understand why He has not showed me the direction to go right now I am still listening for His voice. I pray that God will open doors that He wants me to go through and close the doors that are not His will. Guide my steps. (what I just shared with you was a time I didn’t understand why God was not opening doors and showing me what was ahead but as I continue to share my story in weeks to come you will understand like I do now why God was allowing me to continue to “Be Still”. He knows our future)
